Environmental Engineer

We are seeking an Environmental Engineer to work within the HSE Unit. The role requires working on wide range of environmental projects which will involve interfacing with clients, contractors and other consultants providing project management expertise:

Apply knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation and both Turkish and International standards/regulations;

Substantive experience working with EC/EU environmental tools and guidelines; experience in IFC Performance Standards, EBRD Performance Requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduated from Environmental Engineering department,
• 5 years experience in industrial projects or facilities, waste water treatment facility,
• Mining industry experience is an asset,
• Fluent in English (B2 level),
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint),
• Good at reporting and problem solving,
• Good interpersonal skills, ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary environment,
• Excellent organizational skills,
• Ability to prioritize assignments and manage a variety of complex tasks under tight deadlines,
• Experience in proper documentation and reporting about environmental legislation,
• Experience and knowledge with IFC Performance Standards, Requirements among several International Financial Institutions’ and Environmental Protection Agency’s environmental and social appraisal requirements,
• Experience in environmental permission and license processes,
• Can adopt easily to new and challenging environments,
• Experience of working on international EIA and environmental and social due diligence projects,
• Have good inter-personal skills with the ability to integrate into existing teams, and work alongside colleagues of other disciplines.
  
  

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Overseeing the Environmental and Social performance of the Project,
• Managing the Environmental and Social Management System, regularly monitoring its implementation and revising when require,
• Involving in ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, bringing in and taking part in improvement projects,
• Providing the execution of plant operations in accordance with the Environmental Management System policies and procedures, legal regulations, international standards and company requirements by decreasing the environmental and social impacts and risks and by supporting the continuous improvement processes of Environmental and Social Management System, 
• To determine the performance parameters according to the national and international standards, and requirements of the country agreement in which the company operates, to follow them, to report and the necessary actions in accordance with the results and to execute the annual Environmental management plans,
• To follow all projects, work orders and working methods applied in the plants in terms of Environmental Management,
• To provide the systematically and controlled storage and disposal of the plant wastes according to their types and Environmental Management Procedures,
• To monitor the environmental compliance of the project sites in terms of the legal and other requirements and taking the necessary measures.
